Frontier Gate Boost Plus has gameplay like Final Fantasy, a turn based classic JRPG with additional feature like Combo, AP System, and Fight Mood. Player set each character order and moves first and the execute. Skill and magic only require AP and player can act depend on AP available. Player can rise AP by do partner specific quest and rising the Frontier Level. Higher combo hits will make damage higher, but moves that hit a lot have low damage and moves that hit less or hit once have high damage. Fight mood can also effect damage and AP available each turn. It can be increased by using skill. Blue or red icon will determine if it will affect player or enemy fight mood.

Frontier Gate Boost Plus is a quest based mission, and you can get quest from The Guild. There are variable quest available, like hunting certain monster, finding person, item gathering, quest to arrive to certain place to open new area, and partner specific quest to level up Frontier Level.

Player will not do mission alone. Player can choose one from all fiveteen partner to do mission together. Even so player can easily change partner by go to The Guild. Each partner have diiferent personality and background story. They also have each own story quest. They also use different weapon but you can train them to use different weapon by do weapon train quest.

Quest area also look great. From road that connect to Frontier City to snow plain and desert exist. There is also sewer, ruins, maze like building, and many more. 

There a lot of equipment in this game, from different type of weapon and armor. Weapon has eleven type, one handed sword, 2 handed sword, Spear, Bow, Crossbow, Dual Sword, Katana, Light Strike (Mace/Rod/Staff), Great Fist, Heavy Strike (Axe/Hammer/Scythe), and Great Shield. Each has it's own pro cons like 2 handed sword and Great Shield has low speed, make them act slower than other weapon and most enemy. Player can also change partner equipment.

Unlike normal RPG, same type equip in Frontier Gate Boost Plus has no different stat, so it's more of aestethic to buy different equip from same type. Player can upgrade equip to rise it's stat and rank, which rank determined active passive skill. Player can aslo upgrade equipment to different tree that has different look, and sometime with additional element.

BGM in the city seems to be a classical European music, and depend on which area you on, BGM will be different. The BGM is good but because this game is quest based and you need to go to city numerous times, player will easily bored with the same BGM.

The biggest problem I have with this game, is it repetitive cycle you must do: preparation=>take quest=>do the mission=>go back to city=>preparation for next quest=>take quest=>...

Item to upgrade equipment can also be considered rare, and player need to grind level and farming to became stronger. Fortunately a lot of boss quest can be do more than once.
